The course

What this course really gives you

Open Water teaches you to dive. Advanced teaches you to dive well. It is five different adventure dives, each one a lesson in disguise: you go deeper, navigate on your own, feel a drift current, hang over a wreck at dusk. No exam, no pool, just structured experience with an instructor debriefing every dive.

Two dives are fixed by PADI: Deep, where you learn what 30 metres does to your gas, your colors and your head, and Navigation, where the compass finally starts making sense. The other three we choose together from what Hurghada does best: wreck, drift, night, buoyancy or fish identification.

Around here the course is almost unfair. The deep dive happens on a dramatic wall, the wreck dive on a real ship at Abu Nuhas, and the navigation dive on a reef where getting lost would almost be worth it. This is why divers fly to the Red Sea to do their Advanced.

Skills

What you learn

1

Depth with a clear head

At 30 m your air goes faster and your brain gets slower. You learn to plan for both, watch your gauge earlier and recognise narcosis before it matters.

2

Navigation you can trust

Compass headings, natural references, kick cycles. You lead the dive out and back while the instructor shadows you. Getting back to the line on your own is a feeling that sticks.

3

Buoyancy that looks effortless

The peak performance buoyancy dive strips lead off your belt and drag off your profile. Most divers drop 2 kg and halve their air consumption problems.

4

Comfort in changing conditions

Drift along a wall, hover over a wreck, descend into blue dusk. Five different dives means five different situations handled calmly.

Hice el Advanced en dos días. La inmersión profunda en una pared de coral fue espectacular y la de navegación me quitó el miedo a la brújula para siempre. Instructor muy profesional, todo en grupo mínimo. Volveré para el Rescue.

Flew in with a fresh OW cert and left two days later signed off to 30 m. The wreck adventure dive at Abu Nuhas was unreal. My instructor debriefed every dive properly instead of just signing the book. Worth every euro.

AOW in zwei Tagen, fünf komplett unterschiedliche Tauchgänge. Der Tieftauchgang an der Steilwand war sauber geplant und ruhig durchgeführt. Danach mit dem 30m-Schein direkt zur Thistlegorm. Genau so soll ein Kurs laufen.

Kurs Advanced zrobiony podczas urlopu. Nurkowanie nocne było magiczne, a instruktor cierpliwie tłumaczył nawigację, aż wszystko zaskoczyło. Mała grupa, świetna atmosfera na łodzi. Gorąco polecam ten ośrodek.

Advanced Open Water questions

What is the difference between Open Water and Advanced?

Open Water gives you the foundation and an 18 m limit. Advanced applies that foundation across five different adventure dives, raises your limit to 30 m, and adds navigation and depth planning skills. There is no exam, learning happens in the water.

Can I do Advanced right after Open Water?

Yes, PADI allows it and we recommend it while skills are fresh. Many guests do Open Water plus Advanced in a single week: about 6 diving days total. Ask us for the combo price.

Which adventure dives can I choose in Hurghada?

Deep and Navigation are required. For the other three we offer wreck (usually Abu Nuhas), drift, night, peak performance buoyancy and fish identification. We match the choice to conditions and to what excites you.

Do I need Advanced to dive the SS Thistlegorm?

Effectively yes. The wreck sits at 16 to 32 m, so a 30 m certification plus some logged dives is the sensible requirement. Many divers do the Advanced course with us and book the Thistlegorm trip the same week.

How hard is the deep dive?

Easier than people fear. It is a slow, planned descent along a wall with your instructor next to you, a few depth-effect demonstrations, and generous safety margins. Most students call it the highlight of the course.

Ready to dive today?

The water is 28°C, the visibility is over 30 m, and a boat with your name on it leaves tomorrow at 8 AM.
